Amorr began as a founder's instinct rather than a defined product: the belief that dating apps had flattened into swipe, match, chat, and that something was missing between meeting a stranger and actually knowing them. There was no existing app, no validated direction, and no fixed feature set.
I designed Amorr end-to-end: from early research and concept validation through to a fully tested, functioning product, leading a team of six designers along the way.

Most dating apps had converged on the same formula: sign up, swipe, match, chat. Across research, users described this pattern as generic; a few days of chatting with a stranger rarely gave them enough to judge whether someone's personality actually matched their own. The founder's original brief was vague; it was research that turned "something more engaging than swiping" into a real direction.

The problem: The gap wasn't in finding matches; it was in the shallow, low-effort interaction that happened after the match. Texting alone wasn't revealing who people actually were.

The solution: Design the interaction itself to do that work. Games and task-based activities are built directly into chat, so two people reveal their real selves by doing something together, not by filling out a profile.

This became Amorr's founding thesis and the basis for every design decision that followed.
Confirming before investing in full design that games and task-based interaction actually make users feel more connected than traditional swipe-and-chat.
Get users into the app and browsing as fast as possible, collecting only what the matching algorithm truly needs to function.
Encourage users to finish their profiles without gating access outright or making the ask feel forced.
Design the in-chat games themselves, the feature meant to differentiate Amorr from every other dating app on the market.
